Congratulations to those who passed their belt test this past week. I am proud of each one of you! As you continue to progress in rank your belt means more to you as you have invested is a tremendous amount of "Sweat Equity". Each rank represents your history, dedication, commitment, sacrifice and hard work. Because achieving rank is not easy, you should feel a great sense of satisfaction in your latest accomplishment. Again, congratulations!

Dojo Etiquette

Be prompt. Arrive before class begins. Make sure you have used the restroom and are hydrated before class begins.
Arriving to class on time is not only a martial arts tradition, but also a sign of respect to both the teacher and fellow students. Showing up late interrupts the instruction and disrupts the class by forcing everyone else to momentarily stop training. Showing up on time is both common couresy and proper dojo etiquette so make a point to be on time for class.

November 3rd Tournament

Make sure you register for the USAMA Tournament on November 3rd hosted by USAMA Headquarters in Concord. CA. Please return your registration forms to us no later than October 25th and receive the early registration discount. If you miss the early registration discount you can still participate. Just bring your registration form and payment to the tournament and register at the door. The tournament starts at 9:00am and is located at New Hope International Church, 2120 Olivera Court, Concord, CA 94520.

Tournament Workshops

Congratulations to those who participated in the Grappling Workshop! It turned out to be a great workshop and those who participated showed great improvements in their understanding and abilities. Keep training hard and good luck at the November 07 Tournament!
Also, we will make room for those who still want to participate in the Kumite (sparring) Workshop on October 19th. You can put your name down on the sign-up sheet and we will make room.
The Kata (form) workshop is full and we are not able to accept any more participants.

Baby Cavaliere Update

Thank you everyone for your nice e-mails, gifts, and comments. We are all doing great and enjoying some valuble family time. Mary and baby Sam are strong and healthy. Mary is a super mom and I have the utmost restpect for her after a completely natural labor and birth! Wow!
Classes will resume on Monday with a regular schedule. Sempai Drew was kind enough to return a week early to help run the dojo this upcoming week and I am looking forwrard to stopping by and sharing more details with everyone next week!

Saturday classes are canceled. Sensei Dan and Sempai Mary will be spending family time with Samuel Joseph Cavaliere born on Thursday, September 6th. Classes will resume on Monday, September 10th.

Great Job Demo Team

Great job USAMA Demo Team at last nights Farmer Market performance! We have heard many wonderful comments about the USAMA Demo Team. The creativity you demonstrated with your skits was fantastic and the audience thouroughly enjoyed the show! Your hard work and dedication during the last six months is paying off. For those students interested in participating in next years Demo Team keep training hard as we are starting to look for the next group of students to invite.

The Beach Training was a big hit!

The annual USAMA beach training was a big hit! This was USAMA-SLO's biggest group so far. We look forward to this USAMA martial arts tradition every year. Thanks to all those who showed their support by training with us on the beach. Also, a special thanks to the Debacker family for all those great photos! Keep your eyes open for more great pictures on the website!
