Congratulations are in order!
04/17/08
Congratulations to those who competed in the Spring USAMA Tournament! I have heard many great reports on the success of those who competed. Tournaments are a fantastic way to gain valuable experience and discover where your strengths and weaknesses are so you know where to focus your training. Overall, I was impressed with how well our San Luis Obispo students competed. I saw great attitudes and effort. Congratulations!

Heavy Weight Gi Order
03/13/08
We are going to be making a Heavy Weight Gi order on Wednesday, March 19th. A heavy weight gi is a 14 oz., 100% brushed cotton uniform that will last much longer than the student 7.25 oz. weight gi. The heavy weight gi is more appropriate for the dedicated martial artist. It is more durrable, provides more "Snap" when applying proper technique and is recommended for those who wish to compete in tournaments at a high level. If you would like us to include a heavy weight gi for you on our next order, let us know at the front desk on or before Tuesday, March 18th.

Dojo Improvements!
03/05/08
I am excited to announce that we will be upgrading our training floor surface to "tatami" style mats. This is something that I have wanted for our dojo for a while as they will help our classes run more efficiently. These mats will allow more room for safe takedowns and grappling while still providing a great surface for stand up techniques and kata. We are hopeful that the mats will arrive later this month (March).

Be Respectful - Wear Your Karate Gi Correctly
02/12/08
Wearing your uniform properly is an important sign of respect. As a reminder, your full uniform includes white gi pants, white USAMA gi top with a USAMA t-shirt worn underneath, and your belt. If you do not have your USAMA t-shirt available, you may wear a plain white t-shirt under your gi top. Remember that any other t-shirt is not considered part of your uniform and is not appropriate to wear while in class. (You wouldn't expect to see a soldier wearing his "Disneyland" t-shirt while on duty).
Summer uniforms include white gi pants, USAMA t-shirt, and your belt. T-shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Full gi's are always preferred.
Keep your uniform laundered on a regular basis.
Thank you for honoring the uniform requrements.
